Challenge:

The “Give Here. Help Here.” mission of Marsh Regional Blood Center is to collect and maintain blood supplies to meet local needs in the Appalachian Highlands region. When Marsh Regional became part of Ballad Health in 2018, we were asked to create a new brand for Marsh Regional that would complement the Ballad Health brand.

Solution:

Providing a separate brand but still connecting it to its parent brand is truly challenging. We considered many ideas, but the solution from our designers was to use Ballad Health’s logo typeface and pull colors from their color palette to develop Marsh Regional’s brand. Not too much, but just enough to make the connection.

Results:

We created a custom brand logo icon of three overlapping blood drops using three of Ballad Health’s colors; and we developed other custom icons using the same three colors to visually support blood drives and other services. These became the foundation of the brand that was then applied to print and digital advertising creative, mobile blood units, corporate identity, and marketing collateral.
